What you need to know as a florist about the Helianthus

  • Colourful splendour

The Helianthus is known for its bright yellow colour. The yellow petals can have different shades, ranging from pale yellow to deep gold.

  • Stylish applications

The Helianthus has a powerful and vibrant appearance. The bright yellow petals are a beautiful contrast to the dark heart of the flower.

  • Symbolic meaning

The Helianthus symbolises loyalty and devotion, as this flower rotates with the sun during the day.

All about the Helianthus

The sunflower got this name for a reason: it is a real sun worshipper. During the day, the head of this flower turns with the position of the sun. This way, it gathers as much light as possible. A special process called heliotropism.

The Latin name of the sunflower is 'Helianthus' and is Vincent van Gogh's favourite flower. The flower symbolises loyalty and devotion, so this flower is nice to give to someone who means a lot to you.

Originally, the Sunflower comes from North America. It is an annual plant that grows considerably in height. The tallest Sunflower ever measured is a whopping 7 metres!

The Sunflower comes into its own perfectly in various (summer) bouquets. Whether it's a playful field bouquet with different flowers, or a large bunch with only sunflowers. A beautiful floral gift, that sunflower. One thing is for sure: the sunflower brings summer to your shop!
